General Chek Lap Kok Airport
Chek Lap Kok (Red Perch Cape) is an island in the western waters of Hong Kong. Chek Lap Kok was one of the two islands (the other being Lam Chau) combined together via land reclamation techniques into to the 12.48 km² platform for the current Hong Kong International Airport. The original farming and fishing villages on the island were relocated to Chek Lap Kok Village on Lantau Island. Also, the Romer's Tree Frog (Philautus romeri) on Chek Lap Kok, a unique species of finger-sized frog found only in Hong Kong. The island is located north of Lantau Island off Ma Wan Chung and Tung Chung, and got its name from the red perch once abundant in its vicinity.
Chek Lap Kok was originally a small mountainous island, which has been flattened and extended into the South China Sea to four times its original size. The suspension bridge carrying railway and highway links from Hong Kong Island is the longest of its kind.
How to get there
Rail
The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) high-speed Airport Express is the fastest way between the downtown areas and the airport. The line whisks passengers from Hong Kong Station adjacent to the Central MTR Station on Hong Kong Island about 23 minutes, trains run every 12 minutes.
A free Airport Express shuttle
A free Airport Express shuttle bus service from Hong Kong and Kowloon stations serves major hotels. Both these stations provide free in-town check-in services.

- Romer's Tree Frog (Philautus romeri)
On Chek Lap Kok, a unique species of finger-sized frog found only in Hong Kong, has found its new habitat on Lantau Island before the construction of the airport.
- Lam Chau
One of the two original islands which made up the site of the current Hong Kong International Airport. The former island is the southwest tip of the new airport.
